Crafting is one of the core aspects of Decaying Winter. However, you would have to choose if you want to spend the night crafting or looting due to a large amount of time crafting wastes. (But depending if you crafted a lot or a small number of items you will either have more time or less, so be wise if you are gonna craft or loot.) Decaying Winter Crafting Cost
The crafting costs vary on what perk you are playing.
- Mindflayer = 2 Scrap
- Any other perk than Mindflayer or Prophet = 5 Scrap
- Prophet = 10 Scrap

Crafted Items
Stone Scrap – Stone but bigger. Most likely not able to be thrown. Due to the anti-cheat, holding two of them will make the second one invalid. After throwing or dropping the first one, dropping or throwing the second one will make it disappear.
Crude Bandage – Crafted Crude Bandage. Can be used to cure Bleeding.
Crafted Caltraps – They deal bleeding and slow the enemy down. Unlike Steel Caltraps, Crafted Caltraps does lesser damage to scavengers. Due to the anti-cheat, holding two of them will make the second one invalid. After throwing or dropping the first one, dropping or throwing the second one will make it disappear. Attachments
Crafted Quivers – It Can be used to refill any type of bow, they comes in quantities of 4 They make the same noise as throwing a M67 Grenade.
Decaying Winter Food Guide
Rations/Hunger/Thirst
Anyone got rations
- Your ration bars affect your stats dramatically.
- Your Hunger can be refilled by eating R.I. Beans or MRE Lunchboxes.
- Your Thirst can be refilled by drinking UlayCola (Soda) or Aquafill Bottle.
- Consuming rations has a cooldown per bar, indicated by a purple background.
Both bars will individually raise or lower Melee damage and Defense.
- No Thirst = 20% Defense Decrease and 10% Melee damage Decrease.
- No Hunger = 10% Defense Decrease and 20% Melee damage Decrease.
- Full Thirst = 10% Defense Increase and 5% Melee damage Increase.
- Full Hunger = 5% Defense Increase and 10% Melee damage Increase.
- Purple Hunger Bar = Unable to eat, occurs directly after eating.
- Purple Thirst Bar = Unable to drink, occurs directly after drinking.
- Both Hunger and Thirst are full = Gains a speed boost, and 15% defense/melee damage overall.
- Both Hunger and Thirst empty = Loses movement speed, 30% defense, and 30% melee damage overall.
- Half thirst Half hunger = no affect ( no buffs or debuffs )
When MRE or an Aquafill Bottle fills up your hunger/thirst bar beyond its max, it will become saturated, temporarily keeping that bar full. Indicated by a green background when full.
UlayCola (Soda) / R.I. Beans cannot trigger this effect.
Every killed enemy during a Looting phase will drop ration items; either 1-2 Cola or 1-2 Beans, or 1 Water or 1 MRE.

Decaying Winter Rations List 2022
Ulaycola (Drinkable)
Sweet carbonated drink commonly dropped by scavs. Strangely seen more often than water, a more essential part of living.
Waters a harder source to locate in this place. Due to the snow cannot be turned into natural water due to how many impurities that filters cannot remove, sodas are an alternative.
- Restores approximately 50% thirst in main game, and about 30% in holdout
- Can not be used again after consuming for a short period of time in main game, in holdout you can keep consuming almost immediately after.
R.I. Beans
Restores approximately 50% hunger in main game, and about 30% in holdout

After the fall of society, Beans have become much less common but still part of the basic ration of the population.
MRE
Mre is Ration in Decaying Winter and It is a Plain Crackers.
Quite an uncommon find, great nutrition though quite bland.. can’t complain about food here though…
Surprisingly high quality. Somehow survived multiple beatings and contains a whole cracker.
- Restores approximately 80% hunger
- Temporarily pauses the hunger bar.
- Cannot be used again after consuming for a short period of time.
Aquafill Bottle
Aquafill Bottle is Water bottle in Decaying Winter, Purified water from nature, Uncommon due to the massive pollution but quite refreshing for agents in the field.
- Restores around 80% of thirst bar
- Pauses the thirst bar for 1 minute
